President’s Detention Plan Tests American Legal Tradition - NYTimes.com
“In a letter to the president on Friday, Senator Russ Feingold, Democrat of Wisconsin, said he was not sure Mr. Obama’s idea would prove constitutional, and added that “such detention is a hallmark of abusive systems that we have historically criticized around the world.””
I don’t get it. This is the stupidest thing our country has ever done. Bush started it with the Patriot act, and now Obama wants to continue it. Once we start to take away our freedoms… the rest will crumble. What will stop the administration from saying anyone they want are “terrorism suspects” and locking them up for life without trial, without question. THIS IS WRONG— ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT! It is not what we stand for as a nation, and it SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!
At least my most favorite politician in the world Russ Feingold, has the right view on this.
