For those of you who don’t support marriage equality…

I think it’s appalling how people pick and choose what they want out of the Bible to condemn homosexuals and then ignore the rest of it. If you’re going to follow a BOOK, then follow all of it, not just the bits you want to use to justify your bigotry and discrimination against other people.

Hasn’t “traditional” marriage been redefined so often? Aren’t two people of different races allowed to marry? Isn’t marriage monogamous now? What’s the problem with allowing two people who truly love each other the right to marry? I don’t see one. If I could vote, I’d be voting now and voting no. Marriages don’t last these days; two people fall out of love, never loved each other from the start, marry just for money…why should we deny the right of a special bond to two people who actually DO love each other and want to be able to show that love in ways other than saying “Oh, yeah, we’re together.”

It’s not fair and it’s not right. To deny homosexuals the right to marry is to deny them hundreds of rights and benefits that marriage secures. Benefits are obviously not a reason to marry, but they are just that…benefits. If someone were to get sick or something were to happen, then they are there for that reason. You’re all right about one thing; marriage is a sacred thing. But everyone should be able to experience it, not just a select group of people. You can’t help who you fall in love with. The fact that one portion of our population can arbitrarily vote out rights for another portion of our population is disgusting. If I’m going to hell, then I’ll see half of you there for your lack of ability to love your neighbour as yourself.
