Steven Paul Jobs

I watched the PBS special on Steve’s life tonight.  There have been a lot of people in the world that have been talking about how crazy it is that his death got so much attention.  Every time I see such a post on Facebook, or Tumblr I can’t help but think how ignorant that person really is.

Steve Jobs is the genius of our time.  He is our Picasso, our Einstein, our Thomas Edison.  Our time on this planet has been influenced more by technology than anything else.  All of the technology you use today, has been influenced and imagined because of developments that Steve Jobs helped to create.

Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

You’ve inspired millions of people around the world, including me. You’ll be missed.

So very sad.  He has revolutionized the world.  He changed the way we compute thousands of times.  He has changed the way technology interacts with our lives.  He hired the worlds most amazing design team to create the worlds best in tech.

Even if you are not a Mac user, Steve has touched the technology that you use everyday.  There isn’t anyone in the world with an eye for innovation and technology that Steve had.
Most of my childhood, I spent addicted to Apple.  I watched all of the MacWorld expos, read the rumor sites every day, and had to try and play with all of the new Apple gizmos.  He was always someone I looked up to (before it was cool to do so, and before most people even knew who Steve Jobs was).

This is a very very very sad night.  Rest in peace Steve.  Thank you so much for everything you have done for our world.

Safari

Is one of the best designed browsers available.  It looks good, its sleek, and runs well most of the time.  But if you run it too long, or have it doing too much at once, it turns in to complete crap.  Don’t get me wrong, I have no plans to switch browsers.  Other browsers don’t have the Apple feel and intuitiveness.  But I wish they could keep the damn thing from crapping out.

Apple Holding iPhone 4 Press Conference on Friday

At the risk of being called out as a “FanBoy…”

I think the drama with the iPhone 4 is pretty stupid.  People are going out of their way to trash talk Apple.  While this has been the case for over 10 years, it seems now, it has become more popular because Apple’s products are now… popular.

Yes, in some case’s the iPhone will drop a call, if in the off chance you hold the iPhone in a specific way.  But remember, this isnt the only phone in the world that does this.

People looking in from the outside, don’t get Apple.  They don’t understand how innovative and industry changing the company really is. Steve Jobs is probably one of the most brilliant entrepreneurs in the world.  He may not have the lovable personality that you want him to have.  But he knows how to to make innovative technology, and he knows how to sell a product.

And for those jumping on the trash talk train just because the products are popular should take note: this wasn’t always the case.  For the longest time Apple was a niche company serving less than 10% of the consumer electronics/PC market.  Some of us were Apple fans long before the company was worth more than Microsoft.

Back from Apple

And I have a brand new battery free of charge.  Thank you AppleCare.  It took a little arguing, but not much, and he decided to replace it.

This makes me sad.  Batteries are soo expensive.  I have AppleCare, but most of the time that wont cover your battery.  But I am going to the Genius Bar tomorrow to find out.

Props to the Apple Store

So, yesterday after realizing I would not get a gift I asked for, I went online to the Apple.com online store, and ordered something that I wanted.  When I did so, I made a mistake, and realized that I accidentally had it shipped to my old address.

I figured it would be okay, because the item I ordered would not ship for two months (it was on back-order).  So I called the Apple store to change the shipping address.  When I talked to the Apple Store staff member on the phone, he told me he could not change the address until it actually shipped.  And that I would have to go to Apple.com after it shipped, but before it was delivered to have Apple.com send a notification to FedEx, to send it to a different address than what was on the label.  As much as I complained to the person on the phone, he told me that was my only option.

A few hours later, in my email I got a survey about my experience with the telephone operator for the Apple.com store in my email.  I filled it out saying my issue was NOT resolved.

Today, I got a phone call from the “Apple Survey Response Team” and they apologized for the issue, and promised to resolve it on their own, without me having to wait for it to ship.  They also told me they would follow up with me and call again on Tuesday.

Yay for Apple fixing my problem.  Talk about good customer service!
